Learn To Dance To Any Music

Do you want to Learn to Dance to any music or do you want to be sitting around waiting for the right music

Learn to Dance to Any Music

Learning to dance – should be learning to dance so you do not have to sit

Let me explain: For example if we were talking about one of the dances we teach eg: Swing

At 5th Avenue Dance we teach β€œSwing” meaning no matter what music the Swing/Jazz Band is playing. We want you to β€œDance”

We say Swing as an umbrella name, we teach: Rock β€˜n’ Roll, Jive, Jitterbug, Boogie, Ceroc, Lindy, Lindy hop, modern Jive, Le Step, Step Roc, Hustle and more

A Swing Band would also call themselves a Jazz Band – Jazz and Swing are interchangeable terms

If a Swing Band was playing and you only knew Rock and Roll you would be happy sometimes.

The Swing Band will play Rock and Roll, however when the Swing Band moves on to Jive type music – the Rock and Rollers sit down and the people who only know Jive get up and dance.

Likewise, when the band moves on to Jitterbug type music the Jivers sit dance and people who know Jitterbug get up and dance.

This to us is huge. We already know you can Sit. When we teach you to dance, we do not ever want you to have to sit and WAIT for the β€œright” music. If there is music playing…. Dance!Β

This example of Swing, goes through to all dances all the time – Dance!
