Learn to Dance Latin Dancing on the Gold Coast
What do you think when somebody talks about “Latin dancing”?
At 5th Avenue Dance, when we talk about Latin Dancing, we generally use it loosely to describe a style of dance. However, there are 3 main styles of Latin dancing:
- Latin Dancing
- Social Dancing
- Exhibition / Competition Dancing
In general, the most basic definition of dancing is “moving to music”.
There are two ways to move,
through space this would be your “Ballroom dances” and then
“Latin Dancing” which is dancing on the spot, where you dance your body, moving hips and torso and arm, without normally moving around the room. These dances are known collectively as “Latin Dancing”.
Latin dancing, also known as Rhythm dancing, form the vast majority of dances that we teach at 5th Avenue Dance.
Latin Dances include: Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Jive, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Samba, Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Bachata, Bosa Nova and Lambada to name only a few.
Why learn Latin Dancing?
As dance floors get smaller and music that you are likely to hear, becomes more rhythmic.
These two elements are the essential components that make up Latin Dancing.
At 5th Avenue Dance we teach all Latin dances, starting with the most popular and useful.
